1 Only vehicular rights of way are used; not all green lanes have vehicular rights. Check status with the Definitive Map and/or with your local RoW Representative before you start.

2 Restraint is exercised in the use of Green Lanes during the winter months and at other times of the year after heavy rainfall.  The damage caused by modern tyres when the ground is saturated can take many months to naturally repair

3 No more than 4 or 5 vehicles are in a group, and travel at sensible speed at all times, according to the prevailing conditions.

4 Respect and preserve the countryside at all times. Remember that wildlife faces many threats and that Green Lanes can be valuable habitats. Do not antagonise other users or landowners. You are ambassadors of the NCGL and are expected to promote it.

5 Keep within the law; Green Lanes are public roads. Even deliberately bogging down a vehicle could result in you collecting points on your Driving Licence.

MEMBERS BRINGING THE CLUB INTO DISREPUTE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED; THEIR NAMES AND VEHICLE DETAILS WILL BE PUBLISHED AND CIRCULARISED TO OTHER USER GROUPS.

REMEMBER THE FOUR W's

WEATHER  Do not travel on lanes when they risk being damaged beyond a point of natural recovery when the weather improves.

WEIGHT  Do not use lanes that may be seriously damaged by the pressure of your vehicle beyond recovery

WIDTH  Do not use lanes that are too narrow for you vehicle.

WINCHES  Use only when unavoidable. Take care not to damage trees. Always use protective straps.

Record the use of the lanes you drive, this will assist the club in keeping records and can be used as evidence in RoW issues, and to assess the current condition of the lane, also to compare against O/S sheets on record.

ENJOY YOUR DAYS ON THE LANES, HELP KEEP THEM OPEN TO ALL USERS.
